The years of abuse against the Indians, and the countless broken promises, created a very tense atmosphere which only seemed to be getting worse.

One day, while many AIM Indians were camped in an area of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, called Oglala, two FBI agents were following an Indian driving a truck onto the reservation.
有一天，當許多AIM的印地安人在松樹嶺印地安人保留區紮營時，兩位FBI探員尾隨著一位開著卡車回到保留區的印地安人。
The FBI said they suspected the driver of stealing a pair of cowboy boots... which was ridiculous because such a small theft would not be a matter for the FBI. Nobody really knows why the FBI were following him, and what they really wanted.

On February 27, 1973, in order to force the government to recognize the injustices against Indian people, AIM and other traditional Native Americans began an occupation of the town called Wounded Knee in South Dakota.
在1973年2月27日，美國印地安人運動(AIM)和美國原住民為了迫使政府正視印地安人所遭受的不平等，他們開始聚集佔領南達科他州的南方小鎮-伍恩狄德尼鎮。
Their goal was not only to protest injustice, abuse and repression against their people, but also the government's violations of the many treaties between the Indian tribes and the United States government.
目的不只是為了要抗議他們所遭受虐待、鎮壓等不正義的行為；還要強力表達不滿政府違反了許多兩方所簽訂的協議。

One year later, an Indian named Wesley Bad Heart Bull was stabbed to death in another racist killing. AIM organized a meeting with local officials to force the government to prosecute the people who were resonsible.
一年過後，一位叫做衛斯理(Wesley Bad Heart Bull)的印地安人又在一起種族歧視的仇恨中被刺殺身亡。美國印地安人運動(AIM)隨即安排和當地官員會面，要來迫使政府起訴應該負責任的人。
But when they arrived at the meeting, Wesley's mother, Sarah Bad Heart Bull, was not allowed to go in. When she tried to enter the courthouse, the police beat her severely on the courthouse steps, and any Indians who tried to stop the beating were tear-gassed and beaten.
當他們抵達會面地點時，衛斯理的媽媽莎拉(Sarah Bad Heart Bull)卻無法進入。當她試著要進入法院時，她在法院的樓梯間被警察嚴重痛毆，所有想要阻止暴力的印地安人都被催淚瓦斯攻擊。
A riot broke out throughout the courthouse, and although no one was killed, the "Custer courthouse riot" was a historic event. It was the first outbreak of violence between white men and the local Lakota Indians since the Indian massacre at Wounded Knee in 1890.

On the night of February 12, 1972, an Indian named Raymond Yellow Thunder was taken from the streets by several white men who knew he was drunk. They beat him, made him take off all his clothes in freezing the winter temperatures, and forced him into the trunk of their car.
在1972年2月12日的晚上，幾個白人在大街上帶走一位名叫雷蒙(Raymond Yellow Thunder)、並且喝醉的印地安人。他們毆打他，在天寒地凍的冬天裡扒光他的衣服，把他塞入後車廂中。
They took Yellow Thunder to a local bar where he was forced to dance naked as people watched and laughed.

From my Taipei studio on the 12th floor, I have a great view of Taipei city and the 101 building. But that does not inspire me as much as what I watched in the last ten minutes.

As I was passing by the windows on the west side of my floor, I noticed the sun was setting.
當我經過西側窗戶時，我發現太陽正在西下。
Because of the clouds and the pollution, the sun was easily looked at directly -- a deep-red ball slowly sinking to the horizon.

I just completed creating a new song called "A Friend of a Friend of Mine".
It is a very important song for me, because the song is about a dear friend of mine named John Graham.
I am going to tell you the story about John, and about his friend Anna Mae Aquash.
They are both aboriginal people from Canada, with a very tragic story.
